Must TV Show: Intervention

Must Band: The Be Good Tanyas

Must Book: The Tale of the Unknown Island, by Jose Saramago

Must Scapegoat for the Moral Decline of Modern Society: Jon & Kate Plus Eight “I find that whole situation to be horrible and awful. Every time I see the headlines, I begin an inner hurricane of throwing up. I wanna see Jon & Kate Plus Eight, the Musical. Free-wheeling and Foxy

Another cover for gorgeous Megan Fox, and why not if you want to sell magazines, not easy to do these days. After last month’s double dose in GQ and Elle, Fox steams up this week’s Entertainment Weekly, along with robot Optimus Prime, to promote the new Transformers movie (due June 24). You can gaze at the photos and the online cover shoot all you want but Megan’s candid Q&A (“I have a mouth and I’m not afraid to use it.”) are the best thing about this appearance.

Some samples:

“All women in Hollywood are sex symbols. That’s what our purpose is. You’re a product. But that’s okay.”

“It’s [Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"] going to be the best action movie of the summer. Hands down, it will win that. But it’s not trying to be a Golden Globe-nominated film. It’s badass popcorn summer movie.”

“If I really buckle down, I think one day I could be a very good actress. But so far, I haven’t done anything yet.”

“I’ve always been ubersexual, wearing the smallest clothes I could find.”

Watchmen will be released in theaters and IMAX in less than a month but before heading to the multiplex you should be ready. There are some out there that have waited over 23 years for this film to get made and for good reason. Watchmen is the most celebrated graphic novel of all time and the only one to ever be on TIME’s top 100 list. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself a bit before heading to the theater this March.

The issue hits news stands tomorrow with 6 collectible covers.

robertdowney big Entertainer of Year: Robert Downey, Jr
Robert Downey, Jr. is “Entertainment Weekly’s” Entertainer of the Year. No argument here. The charismatic movie star was brilliant in “Iron Man” and “Tropic Thunder.” The rest of the list is solid.

3. Cast and crew of “The Dark Knight,”
4. The ‘Gossip’ Girls (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester)
5. Stephanie Meyer
6. Lil Wayne
7. Rock Band
8. The women of “Sex and the City,”

Career Launch

Entertainment Weekly writes that Kristen Stewart, the female star of “Twilight,” the teen vampire movie phenomenon, is “Kate Winslet on the eve of ‘Titanic’s’ release.” The 18-year-old actress — who has an impressive resume of indie movie roles (she was the hippie chick in “Into The Wild”) — appears to be a perfect casting choice. She’s the reason I’m anxious to see the movie.

P.S. — Stewart is on Thursday’s “Late Show With David Letterman.”

‘Star Trek’s’ Idealistic Journey

“Star Trek” is the cover story, written by Jim Jensen, in the new “Entertainment Weekly” (now online). Jensen writes:

Director J.J. Abrams says he was also drawn to the project because he believed in — and wanted to evangelize — Trek’s unabashed idealism. ‘I think a movie that shows people of various races working together and surviving hundreds of years from now is not a bad message to put out right now,’ says Abrams. Star Trek just may find itself on the leading wave of a zeitgeist shift — away from bleak, brooding blockbusters and toward the light. ‘In a world where a movie as incredibly produced as ‘The Dark Knight’ is raking in gazillions of dollars, Star Trek stands in stark contrast,’ Abrams says. ‘It was important to me that optimism be cool again.’
