charlies angels 2011 522x216 Angels Join Bunnies On The Scrap Heap

So much for cheesecake.

ABC has cancelled “Charlie’s Angels” after four episodes. The high-profile reboot of the 80s detective series failed to attract a decent audience on Thursday night. Good-looking babes could not make up for bad acting and mediocre storylines.

Sexy women failed to save “The Playboy Club,” another network mistake, dumped by NBC after three episodes.

Eight “Charlie’s Angels” episodes were filmed. The remaining four are expected to air. ABC did not announce a replacement series.

It’s not all bad news for ABC’s new shows. The network recently picked up “Suburgatory” and “Revenge” for full seasons.

ABC, with a new boss Paul Lee, is pretty much wiping the slate clean for fall.

It canceled Brothers and Sisters, V, Detroit 1-8-7, Mr. Sunshine, No Ordinary Family, Off The Map and Better With You.

Body of Proof and Happy Endings, two midseason shows, are coming back.

ABC is adding 12 new series — seven dramas and five comedies — to its 2011-12 schedule.

Charlie’s Angels – A modern take on the 1970s series starring Annie Ilonzeh (Melrose Place), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and Rachael Taylor (Grey’s Anatomy) as Charlie’s (Robert Wagner) new Angels.

Last Man Standing — Tim Allen deals with a world increasingly dominated by women. Nancy Travis (So I Married an Axe Murderer) co-stars. Jack Burditt (30 Rock) wrote the pilot.

Pan Am — A sexy soap about stewardesses and pilots set in the 60s. Some of the characters live double lives as spies. Christina Ricci. Written and produced by Jack Orman (ER).

Apartment 23 – Midwestern girl (Dreama Walker, The Good Wife) moves to New York, where she finds herself living with her worst nightmare (Krysten Ritter, Breaking Bad). James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) co-stars as himself in his first series comedy role.
