All in all, a pretty terrific Emmys telecast. Some observations:
Jimmy Fallon proved to be a good fit as host. He was enthusiastic, funny and creative. He never got in the way.

Good job, Emmy voters. Plenty of first-time and surprise winners, and the repeat victors were mostly deserving.
Best comedy: “Modern Family.” We would have been happy if “Glee,” another freshman show, had won.
Comedy actor: Jim Parsons. What took you so long.
Comedy actress: Edie Falco, even if “Nurse Jackie” isn’t a comedy.
