Nominations for the 3rd annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards (June 10) were announced on Wednesday.
Leaders: The Big Bang Theory (6), American Horror Story: Asylum (6), Parks and Recreation (5), Top of the Lake (5).
HBO lead the networks, scoring 21 nominations, followed by FX with 19.
Community, last year’s best comedy series, was not nominated. Homeland, last year’s best drama series, was nominated but faces tough competition from The Americans (which knocked Mad Men out of contention).
The best races may be in the drama acting categories.
- Newcomers Keri Russell (The Americans), Vera Famiga (Bates Motel) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) challenge Claire Danes, last year’s female winner.
- Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) enters the male field — won by Bryan Cranston last year — but Jon Hamm is missing.
- Michael Douglas (Behind The Candelabra), Matt Damon (Behind The Candelabra), Al Pacino (Phil Spector) and BenedictCumberbatch (Parade’s End) are all in the movie/miniseries category.
