For nearly three decades, “The Sports Reporters” was a Sunday morning TV staple. Intelligent, passionate sports discussion from the best sportswriters in the country.
ESPN cancelled it last May.
But “The Sports Reporters” refused to die, and has come back bigger and better than ever in podcast form. The show was re-launched as a bi-weekly podcast on Cadence 13 (with its wide range of outlets) in September. Mitch Albom and Mike Lupica co-host the hour-length Monday and Friday shows which feature a third voice, most times Bob Ryan.
Podcasts — available whenever and wherever people want to hear them — are the way to go in today’s mobile world. They also allow the commentators to offer deeper sports analysis without the constraints of live TV. Plus, no travel, no ties, no makeup for Mitch and Mike. They can work in the fancy underwear that sponsors the show.
“The Sports Reporters” community has embraced the new format, and propelled the show into the Top 10. We loved listening to “The Sports Reporters” before and after the Super Bowl. Check out those episodes and join the fun.
