Dunkin’ Donuts is considering a name change — dropping the “Donuts.” A test store in Pasadena has the one-word moniker.

The company that made famous the line “Time to make the donuts” wants to emphasize the coffee “America runs on.” It sells more drink than donut, and coffee is more profitable. Thanks, Starbucks.

Changing a popular name has risks, but the rationale is smart.
