Aubrey Plaza was hilarious playing sarcastic April Ludgate on “Parks and Recreation,” so it was jolting to hear that she was going to play a psychopathic killer on “Criminal Minds.” But did she ever nail the role.

In Wednesday’s episode, entitled “Entropy,” Plaza faces off against Matthew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid) on a blind dinner date — in the BAU’s effort to bring down the “Dirty Dozen” — that turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse game.

Plaza said in an interview:

Matthew and I are friends, so he sent me the script and asked me to read it. So I read the script and it’s basically a 65-page psychological thriller. To be totally honest, I haven’t watched much of the show. I just though playing that role would be really fun. There aren’t many opportunities for me to play a psychopath that has planted a bomb in a restaurant and who is holding a gun at an FBI agent. That’s some juicy stuff.
