Look up in the sky, it’s Taiwanese airline EVA Air’s Hello Kitty Jet, the world’s cutest airplane.
The Boeing 777, which is painted with Hello Kitty and 19 other Sanrio cartoon characters, made its U.S. debut Sept. 19 in Los Angeles.
Dana Ter of PolicyMic wrote about the “Hello Kitty experience.”
The Hello Kitty plane is the ultimate manifestation of Taiwanese culture’s obsession with cuteness, and its attempts to market that cuteness to a global audience. . .
Unlike Japan, however, the obsession with cuteness in Taiwan is not so much representative of a withdrawal from the bleakness of the real world, but is rooted in young people’s desire to chill and have fun.
Makes us think we should have a JoyHog jet some day.
