It’s Global James Bond Day.

Bond was introduced to the film world on Oct. 5, 1962. Sean Connery starred in the first movie, “Dr. No” in 1962. Daniel Craig stars as Bond in the newest film, “Skyfall”, set to be released in Britain on Oct. 26, followed in the United States on Nov. 9.

Countries around the world are planning special events to celebrate the day. Christie’s in London is commemorating James Bond with an online auction for charity. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles is hosting a night of music from the James Bond movies. The Museum of Modern Art in New York is holding a film retrospective of the 007 favorites. James Bond theme songs are being played on radio stations.
