The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held Saturday night in Los Angeles. The big winner: HBO’s fantasy epic Game of Thrones which won six awards.

Total wins: HBO 17, CBS 13, PBS 11.

There were surprises in the guest acting honors. Jeremy Davies (Justified) and Martha Plimpton (The Good Wife) won for drama. Jimmy Fallon (Saturday Night Live) and Kathy Bates (Two and a Half Men) won for comedy. Only Fallon was considered a favorite.

Game of Thrones, which won two awards last season, won for Art Direction, Costumes, Make-Up, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects.

Other notable winners:

Undercover Boss won its first Emmy for best reality series in its third nomination.

Disney’s The Wizards Of Waverly Place won Best Children’s Program for the third time.

The Penguins Of Madagascar became the first Nickelodeon series to win best animated program.

Best casting: Homeland (Showtime) and Girls (HBO).

NBC’s Smash bested So You Think You Can Dance for best choreography.
