Three’s Company: Kimmel Vs. Leno Vs. Letterman
August 21st, 2012 | Posted by in TelevisionJay Leno or David Letterman? Which late-night show to watch?
Next year, viewers will have a third choice. ABC is moving “Jimmy Kimmel Live” from midnight to 11:35 p.m., starting Jan. 8. “Nightline’ gets bumped an hour later to 12:35 a.m.
Kimmel, who will celebrate his 10th anniversary in 2013, told USA Today:
I have been quietly hoping for this. It’s a thrill to go up against the big guys, and you feel like when you go up against the big guys you’re hosting a real talk show and not a talk-show fantasy camp.”
Kimmel has been on the rise… with more exposure (he will host this year’s Emmy Awards) and higher ratings. In the meantime, “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” and “The Late Show With David Letterman” have both lost viewers.
