- The X Factor winner Melanie Amaro — was there ever any doubt? — has signed a contract with Epic Records. The 19-year-old Floridian is also set to star in a Pepsi commercial for the Super Bowl.
- MTV will air a 12-hour Jersey Shore marathon Thursday (beginning at 9:30 a.m.), leading up to the season 5 reality series premiere. One OMG comment: “Is there no end to this crap?”
- Taylor Swift (Eponine) and Amanda Seyfreid (Cosette) have been offered roles in Tom Hooper’s film version of Les Miserables, due in December. Swift beat out Lea Michele.
- Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark took in $2,941,790 over nine performances last week — the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history. Wicked had the old record.
- Bonnie Raitt is releasing his first album in seven years in April.
- Ratings for the season premiere The Bachelor were down 17 percent from last season’s January premiere to a series low for a premiere episode.
- Flashpoint has been renewed for a fifth season.
- The Berlin Film Festival will open with Diane Kruger in Farewell My Queen.
- Frozen Hot Chocolate in Florida! Serendipity 3 has opened in Miami Beach.
