Have you been wondering how things are going with “American Psycho: The Musical?” Not near the top of our can’t-wait list, but the New York Post got the scoop on Monday.

In development since 2008, the first act is now done, with a first draft of the entire show scheduled to be completed in early 2011. The producers say that they’ve stayed true to the 1991 novel and 2000 film about Wall Street banker and serial killer Patrick Bateman.

Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa:

“There are murders, and they are on stage in full view of the audience. An ax and a chef’s knife will be used. I think there’s going to be a lot of blood.”

Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik:

“Think about Malcolm McDowell singing songs during ‘A Clockwork Orange.’ He sang ‘Singing in the Rain.’
