20100203 lost 560x375 Lost: Double The Pleasure
My head is still spinning. The “Lost” writers outdid themselves with Tuesday night’s mind-blowing two-hour start to the show’s sixth and final season. Instead of choosing one of two likely options — the plane never crashed and everyone landed in L.A…. or the bomb plan failed and everyone is still on the island — showrunners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof dared to give us both conclusions, altering the show’s big finish with — shades of “Fringe” — parallel storylines. And it worked, thanks to a superb script and terrific acting. So what happens next? How is “Lost” going to reconcile the different timelines? Viewers are now faced with two sets of characters, the island gang we’ve come to know and love, and the passengers who get off the plane and step into unchartered realities. EW interviewed Cuse and Lindelof, who provided some helpful insight. Lindelof said:

“We will say this: season 6 is not about time travel. It’s about the implications, the aftermath, and the causality of trying to change the past. But the idea of continuing to do paradoxical storytelling is not what we’re interested in this year.”

Hang on, it’s going to be a great ride.
