The Stooges are finally going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The legendary mid-90s Michigan band will be joined by ABBA, Genesis, the Hollies and Jimmy Cliff. Iggy Pop says his band has been patiently awaiting this honor for some time. “We’ve been rejected seven times, and we would have set a record, I think, if it happened again,” the Stooges’ frontman told Rolling Stone. ABBA yes; KISS no? “I didn’t think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band,” ABBA’s Benny Andersson told Rolling Stone. Joining KISS among the rejected nominees were Red Hot Chili Peppers and LL Cool J.
