“The revolution begins right now!,” George Lopez shouted as he began his new TBS late-night talk show on Monday night. TBS deserves praise for trying to broaden late-night demographics (Wanda Sykes‘ Saturday night show on FOX is another positive step), but we’ll have to see if Lopez has what it takes to be the Latino leader. Lopez was understandably overanxious but energetic in the opener. The mood was festive, with jello shots for audience members in the front, and the house band rocked. Still Lopez needs some work on his jokes and interview skills. The 11 p.m. start time (Monday-Thursday) should help draw an audience.
