James Patterson has sold over 170 million books, and he won’t be slowing down any time soon. The best-selling author has signed a deal for his next 17 books — no misprint, that’s seventeen books — according to Publishers Weekly. The voluminous deal (about six books a year) will keep the prolific writer with publisher Hachette through 2012. The deal includes 11 adult titles (to be published in hardcover by Little, Brown and Company and in paperback by Grand Central Publishing) and six titles for younger readers (to be published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers). The contract includes new installments with popular Patterson characters like detectives Alex Cross and Michael Bennett, as well as San Francisco’s Women’s Murder Club.
