Today Disney is releasing “Sleeping Beauty: 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition.” Surely once it hits the shelves, it will be followed by the threat of it going back “into the Disney vault” so we all run out to buy up the limited copies in a mad panic. Which is odd, considering how dark and creepy I remember this movie to be back when the family would rent it from the video store down the street in its clamshell packaging. It’s not something I think I want in the house. But now, with the marvels of modern technology, the colours are punchier, the animation is still old school, but the polish is decidedly new school. The result is a movie that is still scary. And if you don’t believe me, look at the sample stills here…
