Gap seems to have hit its stride this time around with its Artist Editions T-Shirts, in stores yesterday. Partnering with the Whitney Museum of American Art the branch las launched Women’s and Men’s T-shirts designed by some of the biggest names in contemporary art.
The Gap’s Spring season’s CFDA collaboration of stylish twists on the classic white button downs was a definite improvement to the (RED) Bono collection – while it was for a great cause, those red ill fitting T’s were snoring. This new line of designs by superstar’s like Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Kiki Smith, Kenny Scharf, and Barbara Kruger modeled by Stephanie Seymour (of course) and the artist’s themselves, are kind of awesome.
A portion of the sales go to the nonprofit Art Production Fund. And at just $28-$38, you can start your own contemporary art collection for crazy cheap and look pretty rad while doing it. Seriously, if Marilyn Minter is in, I’m in.
