I’ve been listening to Josh Groban’s “Noel” on my car stereo, and I haven’t been alone. Groban’s Christmas album has been smashing sales records (2.1 million units so far) and could finish the year as the No. 1 seller, passing “High School Musical 2.” Last week, “Noel” was the No. 1 album of the week, tying the record for holiday albums, set by Elvis Presley in 1957. It should set the record this week. “Noel,” superbly produced by David Foster, deserves its huge audience. Groban hits the right notes on a collection of classic, traditional songs that include “Silent Night,” “The First Noel” (with Faith Hill), and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” It belongs in everyone’s Christmas collection.
