The Hog did well with our movie picks (25 of 32 in the major categories) and less so with our TV picks (19 of 32).

Some observations:

  • Seven drama nominees (was there a three-way tie for fifth place?) and still no room for “Into The Wild,” which had to settle for two music noms.
  • “Charlie Wilson’s War” got some much-needed Oscar buzz with five noms in the Comedy/Musical category. Still, it won’t beat “Sweeney Todd.”
  • “Knocked Up,” the funniest movie of the year, was knocked off.
  • Cable TV rules. “Damages” and “Mad Men” were honored with multiple nods while broadcast TV got only four of the 11 best show noms — “Grey’s Anatomy”, “House”, “30 Rock” and “Pushing Daisies.”
  • “The Sopranos” was shut out except for Edie Falco’s nomination.
  • Biggest TV surprise: “Californication.”
  • No love for “Heroes” and “Lost.”

The Golden Globe winners will be announced Jan. 13. Here are the nominees:
