When I was a kid, I’d walk up to Abe’s Market and buy my Marvel comic books. Abe’s is gone and so are comic books in neighborhood stores. Not to mention that kids are spending too much time in front of their computers to go for a walk anyway. In an effort to reach younger readers, Marvel Comics has announced a new online service. Users will be able to access over 2,500 old issues for a monthly fee. Smart move by Marvel but not smart enough. The comics can not be downloaded, and new issues will not appear until six months after publication. I don’t have to wait to see the latest episode of “Heroes”. I shouldn’t have to wait to check out the latest adventure of Spider-Man.
