Fox has been looking for another “X-Files,” and it may have found it in “Fringe,” a new sci-fi project from the prolific J.J. Abrams. According to industry reports, Fox is paying a “Lost”-like $10 million for the two-hour pilot and a hefty $2 million per episode licensing fee. The storyline from Abrams and co-collaborators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (they wrote the “Star Trek” script): a young, female FBI agent — of course — works with a brilliant research scientist and his estranged son, investigating unexplained phenomena.
