‘Brothers & Sisters’ was marked as the underdog on ABC’s fall lineup last season. After an eleventh hour recast for Mrs. Walker and an entire reshoot of the pilot, neither the cast nor writers thought the show would ever make it onto the air. But in true Hollywood fashion, the first season was a hit that resulted in Emmy nominations for both Sally Field (who won) and Rachel Griffiths. ‘Brothers & Sisters’ is one of those distinct ABC shows that is rooted in family relationships. The Walkers (Calista Flockhart, Sally Field, Rachel Griffiths, Dave Annable, Matthew Rhys, and Balthazar Getty) make up the 21st century family where gays, republicans, and adulterers are all represented.  It’s the kind of family everyone can relate to, but no one truly has. The DVD set has some good features including a behind-the-scenes look at the show hosted by “The Brothers,” the making of the series, gag reel, and a full unaired episode that bridges the pilot to episode 2. The second season starts 30 September, so if you want to catch up you better get crackn’ now.
