According to industry trade papers, Saldana, who starred in “Drumline” and will be a female lead in James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar”, will play Uhura, the USS Enterprise’s communication officer. Set for a Christmas Day 2008 release, “Star Trek” has already booked Zachary Quinto (”Heroes”) as Young Spock and Anton Yelchin (”Huff”) as Young Chekov.
