Rumors have been flying around recently about the upcoming Star Trek prequel. Normally I avoid everything ‘Star Trek’ like the social plague that it is, but since this Star Trek will be under the helm of LOST creator JJ Abrams, I’m happy to disguise my embarrassment with some LaVar Burton shades and sit with the rest of the Abrams Trekkie posers. The latest rumor is that ‘Heroes’ star Zachary Quinto, aka, Syler might be up for the role of Spock. When IGN confronted him about the rumors, Quinto replied:
“I love these rumors, I think anything we can do to keep these going is good,” Quinto told us during last night’s NBC All-Star Party. “But I’m definitely here because of the show [Heroes] and that’s what I’m relating to most these days, and whatever exists down the line remains to be seen.”
We asked him point-blank: So you’re not talking to anyone specifically about this role?
Quinto replied, “I’m talking to you about it right now, my friend. I am talking to you about this role, right now.”
Trekkies and nerds alike will most likely have confirmation next week at San Diego’s Comic-Con where some “big” Star Trek casting news will be released.
