The other day, while basking in the autumnal glory of Central Park, I took a drive and listened to a new CD of some old standards. This soundtrack features the likes of The Platters, Buster Brown and John Coltrane. None of the songs have anything to do with the superman mysteries, but no matter…it’s a key collection for the fall dinner parties. With classics like Frankie Laine’s “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” this is the kind of music that will make you smirk from ear to ear. Modern music about love and affection tells us to be promiscuous and loosen up our buttons, baby. This may strike you as the collection of mom and dad, but there is something to be said for the cheerful simplicity of songs that were recorded before the dawn of blogs and text messages. Certainly worth adding to your library…
