The DVD cover for “The Sentinel” has Michael Douglas and Eva Longoria holding guns on the front and an exploding helicopter on the back, so Iwas pretty sure it was going to be good. Douglas plays the square-jawed, well-groomed secret service veteran who discovers there is a traitor in company with plans to assassinate the president. Kiefer Sutherland plays his ex-best friend who soon is informed that Douglas’ character is, in fact, the traitor. And Longoria is flashed around throughout the movie to keep everyone’s attention. I don’t really think you need to know anymore than that to put the pieces together. “The Sentinel” has some good talent and good moments of suspense, but halfway through we can already see the end and everything just fizzles away from there. Luckily the DVD has special features, including a behind-the-scenes look at secret service training and a documentary about what it takes o protect the president. Not a full redemption, but at least an attempt.
