FILM (errrrr……movie)
New Line Cinema
In cinemas now

Like so many, I have been looking forward to this movie for almost a year now.  It’s impossible for anything as hyped-up as “Snakes on a Plane” to live up to expectations.  So, does “SoaP” buck the trend?  Yes and no.  To be succinct, the “Snakes” in my head was 110% badass, while the actual “Snakes” is about 74% badass.  That said, I really appreciate the fact that the movie calls itself what it is.  It’s one of those slick B-movies that we’ll all go see and love (even if we don’t admit it).  With its blog buzz and smirking admirers, this is the movie that makes it okay to stand up and cheer when a snake bites someone right on the dangler.  Does “SoaP” signal a shift in the way films are made in Hollywood?  I’m wary that studios will start making a concerted effort to duplicate the viral juggernaut associated with the film, but if the other films are as poorly/well done as this one, I’ll never get tired of the motherf@!%ers. God bless you, Sam Jackson.
